# The Best Ridstar Q20 Upgrades (2026)
The Ridstar Q20 is a solid bike straight out of the box. But stock is stock — and if you've spent any time in the ebike world, you know the Q20 has a lot of room to grow.
We build parts for these bikes because we ride them. Here's what's actually worth putting on your Q20, roughly in the order we'd do it.
---
## 1. Rock Lights — $29.99
If you only do one thing, do this. Rock lights mount underneath the frame and light up the ground around your bike, which does two things: it makes you visible to cars at night, and it makes your bike look completely different from every other Q20 out there.
Ours run 72 LEDs at 560 lumens and plug straight into your Q20's existing connector — no splicing, no soldering, no cutting into your factory wiring.
**Install time:** about 20 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy, no tools beyond basic hand tools
---
## 2. Squadron Lights — $39.99
Squadron lights are the forward-facing pods you've seen on built-out Q20s. They throw real light down the trail, so if you ride after dark on anything other than a lit street, these matter more than looks.
Bolt-on install, plug-n-play connector.
**Install time:** 15–20 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy
---
## 3. Throttle + Key Ignition Combo — $49.99
This one's a feel upgrade and a security upgrade at the same time. You get a Surron-style throttle that's snappier than stock, plus an actual key ignition instead of a push button — which means your bike doesn't just turn on for whoever wanders past it.
Comes in black metal or carbon-fiber-look.
**Install time:** 30–45 minutes
**Difficulty:** moderate — this one takes a little patience
---
## 4. Seat Cover — $29.99
The cheapest way to change how your bike looks and feels. Stock Q20 seats are fine; a cover makes it yours, and it protects the seat underneath from sun and rain — which matters a lot if you're in Florida like we are.
**Install time:** 10 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy
---
## 5. Baja Lights — $35.99
If squadrons aren't enough, Baja lights are the next step up in front-end lighting. Same plug-n-play setup.
**Install time:** 20 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy
---
## 6. Mud Guard — $29.99
Not the flashiest upgrade, but if you ride anywhere with dirt, sand, or puddles, you'll notice the difference the first time you don't get sprayed up your back.
**Install time:** 15 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy
---
## 7. Foot Pegs — $29.99
Adds a spot for a passenger, or just a better place to plant your feet when you're standing up over rough ground.
**Install time:** 15 minutes
**Difficulty:** easy
---
## A note on plug-n-play
Every part above uses the Q20's existing connectors. That's deliberate.
You *can* wire lights in yourself — plenty of people do. But splicing into your bike's factory harness means you're guessing at which circuit does what, and getting it wrong can mean anything from a light that flickers to a problem with your controller. It can also complicate a warranty claim later.
We build everything to plug into what's already on your bike, so the worst case is that something doesn't fit — not that something breaks.

## Where to start
If you're starting from a fully stock Q20 and want the biggest visual jump for the least money:
**Rock lights + seat cover.** About $60 total, both install in under half an hour, and your bike will look nothing like it did that morning.
If you ride at night regularly, add squadron lights next. If you park your bike anywhere you don't fully trust, the key ignition is the one.

Everything here is built by hand and shipped from Florida — usually out the door the next business day.
